Lenovo confirms Moto Z2 Play smartphone

Lenovo, the parent company of Motorola, has confirmed the much-speculated Moto Z2 Play smartphone. The company revealed the smartphone while replying to a user query on microblogging website Twitter. The Chinese smartphone brand even shared battery capacity details of the upcoming smartphone.

In a tweet, Lenovo confirmed that Moto Z2 Play will be featuring a non-removable 3,000mAh battery, something that also falls in line with the previous rumours. The handle in later tweets also posted its forum links on why a non-removable battery in smartphones is better.

It might come as a disappointment for some fans that its predecessor and the current model Moto Z Play comes with a larger 3510mAh battery. However, the real-world usage of the Moto Z2 Play in terms of battery life could be better. We can be only sure once the smartphone has been tested.

For now, there is no other word on the smartphone or its specifics. Lenovo has also not yet revealed the launch dates of the handset. But similar to last year, the company may unveil the smartphone during its IFA conference, which is scheduled to take place in Berlin from September 1 to September 6 this year. We could also see it’s unveiling during the Lenovo Tech World Show.

A recent report by Venturebeat says the Moto Z2 Play will run Android 7.1.1 Nougat out of the box and will be thinner than its predecessor. The Moto Z Play itself is around 7mm thin. The slimness could understandably mean a lesser capacity battery life, what Lenovo confirmed above in one of the tweets.
